Destiny

by Florence Espeut-Nickless

“They’re sayin I brought it on myself. Oh yeah, they’ve heard about me. Basically it must’ve been my fault cause I’m me, Destiny”

Destiny dreams big. She dreams glamour. She’s gonna be an MTV Base backing dancer, you watch.

DESTINY follows a teenage girl growing up on a Chippenham council estate. Born below the breadline, she's desperate to see beyond the neighbourhood and find hope in hopelessness.

Supported by Arts Council England, I toured DESTINY by Florence Espeut-Nickless to over 21 venues across the UK in 2022. The show has also had runs at the Pleasance in London, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Chippenham Fringe Festival. Upcoming shows include Brighton Fringe, Nottingham Playhouse and Solo Voices Festival in Aarhus, Denmark.

I love working with Florence and I’m so proud of DESTINY! The response from audiences, especially young women, has been powerful. A massive highlight of 2022 was hearing we had our touring grant from Arts Council England on the last night of our Edinburgh Fringe run.
